Life Skills Education Programs
Our Life Skills Education programs are designed to empower clients with the knowledge and tools needed to understand, adapt to, and manage their vision loss — all while maintaining independence at home, within their families, and in the community.
Life Skills Education is available one-on-one through in-home visits or in group settings via our monthly Lunch and Learn sessions.
Topics include eye health education, low vision and adaptive product information, health and wellness (diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, obesity, etc.), community resources, emergency preparedness, first aid, sensory development, stress management, self-esteem building, self-advocacy, banking options, crime prevention, and more.

Social Events
Staying active and socially connected is essential for the well-being of our blind and visually impaired clients. We offer a variety of Social and Recreation Events adapted to meet their needs. Each client may bring one guide at no charge, and we provide free transportation for Luzerne County residents to most events.
Bingo Dinners
Join us each month for a Bingo Dinner! We offer a delicious meal followed by several games of bingo using large-print and Braille cards, with plenty of helpers available for assistance as needed.
Book Club
Our Book Club meets monthly for lively discussions over coffee and snacks. Participants listen to a digital audio version of the selected book prior to each meeting. New members are always welcome! Even if you’re not part of the Book Club, you can still receive digital audio books.

Annual Holiday Party and Summer Picnic
We celebrate the season each December at the Annual Arline Phillips Holiday Party — a festive evening of dinner, entertainment, and holiday cheer.
In the summer, we host our Annual Picnic, where clients and their guides enjoy a classic barbecue, fun games, and live entertainment.
